Professional Counselling & Psychotherapy in Grantham & Surrounding Areas

Whatever has brought you here - I’m guessing it hasn’t been easy or straightforward.

We all need a little help sometimes and the decision to do something different and make a change is a brave one . Welcome to my website , I hope you find what you need

Hello, my name is Buick Hamblin, and I have over 20 years of experience as a counsellor. For 12 of those years, I worked with the NHS, helping people of all ages, backgrounds, and cultures with a wide range of issues such as depression, low self-esteem, family problems, relationship issues, self-harm, and childhood abuse.

My therapeutic approach is primarily person-centred counselling, combined with cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) when beneficial. I believe that when a person is free of judgement and feels secure in a confidential , positive relationship they can allow themselves to deeply explore their unique situation. My role is to build this relationship and be alongside the client as a trusted companion

In a confidential and supportive environment either online or at my practice in Grantham, we will work together to deepen your self-understanding and acceptance, leading to improved relationships and a greater capacity to live life more fully. I am passionate about empowering individuals to achieve their goals and live their best lives.

How it works

First Step

Realising that we can’t sort out what we are going through on our own . Recognising that the same thoughts are going round and round in our heads with no solution .

Speaking to someone who is listening to you without judgement and striving to really understand what life is like for you is the beginning of the therapeutic relationship.

What can I expect ?

Some Kind Words From Some Of My Happy Clients

  • "I’ve had therapy before but I don’t feel like I connected to the therapist the way I did with Buick, the way she was able to help me change my thought patterns and give me the tools to help in such a short time was amazing. Before these sessions I felt like there was no hope, I was always doom and gloom, after our 2nd session I knew there was a light at the end of such a traumatic tunnel and by the 5th session I felt like I was stood in the light ready to reach out and grab it and become the best version of myself . Thank you so much for what you have helped me through."

    Stephen

  • "I didn’t think I was the kind of person who would ever go to a counsellor. I was worried I would say the wrong thing or not be able to get my words out. I had no idea what to expect. From the initial phone call with Buick, I felt reassured. Our sessions together were such a surprise – I began to look forward to them! Friends and family noticed a difference in me and described me as lighter, happier and more confident. It has helped me so much and I would recommend anyone to give it a go!"

    Joan

  • It's difficult to articulate the positiive impact that my counselling sessions with Buick had on me-the insights from our valuable conversations continue to guide me today. Buick's wisdom and humour made her a wonderful companion to have alongside me whilst I needed help exploring my mind.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • I offer a free initial 30-minute consultation by telephone to help you understand what to expect and determine whether counselling is right for you. If we decide to continue, each session thereafter is 50 minutes, and my fees are £50 per session. I aim to make therapy as accessible and affordable as possible, without compromising on the quality of care you receive.

  • Your first counselling session is an opportunity to ask any questions you have, talk over any worries about therapy and determine if we would work well together. You'll have time to talk about what you're struggling with at the moment and how you've coped so far. We'll also discuss your goals or hopes for therapy. Towards the end of the session, we'll cover the practicalities of scheduling appointments, fees, and cancellations.

  • In a non-judgmental and supportive environment, we'll explore your challenges and work together to help you gain a deeper understanding of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. With greater clarity and compassion for yourself, you'll be able to respond to life's challenges with greater confidence and resilience. By listening deeply and offering guidance, I aim to help you develop new insights and coping strategies.

  • Your counselling sessions will take place in a warm and welcoming environment that prioritises your comfort and confidentiality. The sessions can be conducted in-person at my private practice in Grantham, which is designed to create a safe and supportive space for you to share and explore your thoughts and feelings. Alternatively, if you prefer or require remote sessions, we can also arrange for online sessions through a secure video or audio platform such as Zoom.
