How it Works

We all need a little help sometimes.

Whether you are facing a crisis , coming to terms with a big change, struggling with unhelpful behaviours, dealing with issues from the past , feeling stuck or sad, or just a general sense of confusion, counselling can help you work through it.

When we realise that we can’t sort out what we are going through on our own. When we realise the same thoughts are going round and round in our heads with no solution, we begin to realise that we need to talk to someone.

“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them .”

Speaking to someone who is listening to you without judgement and striving to really understand what life is like for you is the beginning of the therapeutic relationship. Knowing your words will go no further in this confidential space allows you to be totally honest (maybe for the first time) and look at things with clarity. As trust builds and when you feel safe enough, you can explore your experiences and feelings from a different perspective. Gradually a deeper understanding of yourself develops and new ways of thinking begin to emerge.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • I offer a free initial 30-minute consultation by telephone to help you understand what to expect and determine whether counselling is right for you. If we decide to continue, each session thereafter is 50 minutes, and my fees are £50 per session. I aim to make therapy as accessible and affordable as possible, without compromising on the quality of care you receive.

  • Your counselling sessions will take place in a warm and welcoming environment that prioritises your comfort and confidentiality. The sessions can be conducted in-person at my private practice in Grantham, which is designed to create a safe and supportive space for you to share and explore your thoughts and feelings. Alternatively, if you prefer or require remote sessions, we can also arrange for online sessions through a secure video or audio platform such as Zoom.

  • Your first counselling session is an opportunity to ask any questions you have, talk over any worries about therapy and determine if we would work well together. You'll have time to talk about what you're struggling with at the moment and how you've coped so far. We'll also discuss your goals or hopes for therapy. Towards the end of the session, we'll cover the practicalities of scheduling appointments, fees, and cancellations.

  • Your privacy and confidentiality are of utmost importance to me. Everything you discuss in your sessions is completely confidential. In rare circumstances where you or another person may be in danger of serious harm, I will need to inform an outside party. In such cases, we'll discuss the situation in-depth and take every possible step to ensure your safety and wellbeing.
